Loosely inspired by the Middle Ages fourteen magic squares, this polyhedron-sonnet tries to reproduce, through fourteen images (distributed over 7+7 crisscrossed lines), the prismatic shape of a lapidated gem, especially in what pertains to the non-univocal aspect when read, as is the case with precious stones whose image changes according to the angle from which they are looked at or into. This poem’s lines can be read from left to right and from top to bottom, with no fixed sequence. You can skip lines or interchange them, altering the poem’s order you may even find possible and different internal and fragmented readings. Based on this, I wanted to create a parallel with Mallarmé’s throw of the dice, since the chiselled gem is also a die that is a "solid random chance".

dit polyedrische sonnet – enigszins geïnspireerd op de middeleeuwse magische vierkanten – probeert door middel van veertien beelden verdeeld over 7 + 7 elkaar kruisende verzen de prismatische vorm van een geslepen diamant na te bootsen, met name het wisselende aanzicht wanneer de steen onder andere hoeken wordt bekeken. De verzen kunnen zonder vaste volgorde van links naar rechts en van boven naar beneden worden gelezen. Door zoals in een woordzoekpuzzel horizontaal of verticaal van regel te wisselen kunnen talrijke andere lezingen en versregels ontstaan. Zo heb ik een parallel willen scheppen met de dobbelsteenworp van Mallarmé, aangezien de geslepen diamant evenals die dobbelsteen "gegeven zonder toeval" is.

algo inspirado nos quadrados mágicos da idade média, este soneto-poliedro tenta reproduzir, através de quatorze imagens (distribuídas em 7+7 versos entrecruzados), a forma prismática de uma jóia lapidada, sobretudo no que se refere ao feitio não unívoco de sua visão geral, tal como acontece com as pedras preciosas que mudam seu aspecto conforme o ângulo em que se a observa. Seus versos podem ser lidos da esquerda para a direita e de cima para baixo, sem ordem fixa. Pode-se pular os versos ou intercambiá-los, alterando a ordem do poema e mesmo encontrando outras possíveis leituras internas e fragmentárias. A partir disso, quis criar um paralelo com o lance de dados mallarmaico, uma vez que a joia burilada é também esse dado que “assente sorte alguma”.
