Bombing of Poems at the Rotterdamse Binnenrotte

The Binnenrotte is located in the heart of the historic center of Rotterdam. This district was largely destroyed during the bombing on May 14, 1940. After the war, the historic center was rebuilt. The Binnenrotte has become a square where past and present go hand in hand.

On the Binnenrotte stands the Saint Lawrence Church. This historic building survived the bombing and was restored after the war. In contrast to the church stand the modern architecture of the cube houses, the 'Pencil Building', the innovative Markthal, and new developments. In this way, the Binnenrotte symbolizes the resilience of the city of Rotterdam, and this historic square forms the ideal setting for Bombing of Poems, an event that honors the past and embraces the future.
