BECAUSE LOVE DOES EXIST
You lie silently beside me,like long like the longest rivers run.
Like long like the longest rivers run
as lily-white fingertips touch
mad at night but ourselves under the sun.
Mad at night but ourselves under the sun.
neighing like foals on the wetlands,
the branches before our brows pulled away by someone.
The branches before our brows pulled away by someone
our hearts, nothing but an old ebb and tide
a trace of the reed bed where the waters spun.
A trace of the reed bed where the waters spun.
like a lost child, we feel the flurry grow
it’s better this way as the rivers shun.
It’s better this way as the rivers shun
the loneliness of an immigrant moon by the edge of night
autumn must be over; all the birdlime undone.
Autumn must be over; all the birdlime undone.
with the waters rise or with the waters fall
we course on the lowlands dun.
We course on the lowlands dun
our days the sorrow of rotten reeds
like long like the longest rivers run.
