Poem
Elke Erb
. . . WHERE AFTER THE TOWN
the land lay bare, traintrekking scot-free along the river
and, a notch to the side, across the whole width
the long straight lonely bridge
under which will pass on the left
Brno 5:40 to Hamburg-Altona 15:40:
the mind fell silent
self-love at an end

. . . WAAR DAN ACHTER DE STAD
de streek bloot lag, de treinstraffeloos langs de rivier spoort
en binnenrukt verder over de hele breedte
de lange rechte eenzame brug
waar links onderdoor gereden wordt
Brno 5.40 – Hamburg-Altona 15.40:
zweeg het gemoed
was de eigenliefde beëindigd

. . . WO DANN HINTER DER STADT
die Gegend bloßlag, die Bahnstraflos am Fluß spurt
und einrückt weiter dort über die Breite
die lange gerade einsame Brücke,
unter der links hindurchfahren wird
Brno 5.40 – Hamburg-Altona 15.40:
schwieg das Gemüt
war die Eigenliebe beendet
