Poem
Elke Erb
ENOUGH ALREADY!
Am I waking up? Where aremy circumstances? Around me? What-
ever must be?
The rock (sheer stubbornness)
the eagle (businessman)
(live and let live),
breakers surging below
(incessant to and fro).
Doesn’t mean a thing.
In itself.
As usual?
Does it stop,
and I – wake up?

GENOEG!
Ontwaak ik? Waar zijnmijn omstandigheden? Overal? Dat
wat zijn moet?
De rots (louter stijfkopperij)
de adelaar (zakenman)
(leven en laten leven),
de beneden aanbruisende branding
(onophoudelijk aan en af).
Wil verder niets zeggen.
Als zodanig.
Als vanouds?
Houdt het aan,
en ik – ontwaak?

GENUG!
Wache ich auf? Wo sindmeine Umstände? Ringsum? Das,
was zu sein hat?
Der Fels (nichts als Starrsinn)
der Adler (Geschäftsmann)
(leben und leben lassen),
das unten aufbrandende Meer
(unaufhörliches Hin & Her).
Und besagt weiter nichts.
An und für sich.
Wie gehabt?
Hält es an,
und ich – wache auf?
