I SAID NOTHING, I JUST THOUGHT
These plumes that the Taita has in his crown
made me think about the death of a macaw;
the Taita who was walking far from me
came near and said:
I did not kill it
I picked it up in the Salado de los Loros
it was my offering
to acquire the power to divine thought;
then he went away.
NO DIJE NADA, SOLO PENSÉ
NO DIJE NADA, SOLO PENSÉ
Esas plumas que lleva el Taita en su corona
me hicieron pensar en la muerte de un guacamayo;
el Taita que caminaba distante de mí
se acercó y me dijo:
yo no lo maté
lo recogí en el salado de los loros
fue mi ofrenda
para adquirir el poder de adivinar el pensamiento,
luego se marchó.
