THE STORY OF MY PEOPLE
The story of my people
has the clean steps of my grandfather
he goes on to his own rhythm;
this is another story
it rushes on
with borrowed shoes
it walks on writing with its feet
without its head on the side,
and in that aimless torrent
they’re carrying me away;
I only would like to see myself
once more in your eyes grandfather;
to embrace your face with my eyes
to read the lines
that time left passing by
to write with my feet
just a full stop
in this story of my life.
LA HISTORIA DE MI PUEBLO
LA HISTORIA DE MI PUEBLO
La historia de mi pueblo
tiene los pasos limpios de mi abuelo
va a su propio ritmo;
esta otra historia
va a la carrera
con zapatos prestados,
anda escribiendo con sus pies
sin su cabeza al lado
y en ese torrente sin rumbo
me están llevando;
solo quisiera verme
una vez más en tus ojos abuelo;
abrazar con mis ojos tu rostro
leer las líneas
que dejó a su paso el tiempo
escribir con mis pies
solo un punto aparte
en este relato de mi vida.
