Poem
Li Heng
BUS IN A STORM
To get away from the heavy rainon the emptied platform,
I run and squeeze into
a bus
that’s going somewhere I have no idea of.
It speeds up, making a turn
across the bridge,
eager to prove that it’s got nothing to do
with the rain.
But the shadow of the stormy rain
has turned into a blind man
playing this underwater bus-piano,
striking the passengers—black and white keys
of various shapes,
and they (that is, we) will wake up
out of tune and tone
when the bus stops.
