A star landed. She stalkedthe streets leading to our house. She gave
her feet to a lover, and put
her hair in the hands of the date palm.
How wondrous!
No one on the road to our home
could follow her footsteps.

Een ster daalde af. Sloopdoor de straten naar ons huis. Gaf
een minnaar haar voeten. Gaf
haar haren in de handen van een palm
Vreemd!
Niemand op weg naar ons huis
volgde haar gang

هَبطَتْ نَجمةٌ . تَمَشَّت
خِلْسةً في الزِّقاقِ المؤدّي إلى بيتنا ، وأَعْطَتْ
قَدَمَيها إلى عاشق ، وأَعْطت
لِيَدَيْ نَخْلَة شَعْرَها .
عَجباً !
لم يكن أحَدٌ ، في الطّريق إلى بيتِنا ،
يَقْتَفي خَطْوَها.
