Poem
Marcel Beyer
The Fairytale Record
First it’s the goodbyes, the excursion, the label.First it’s the morning, the squeeze of mustard
and your profile. The crackle
over lunch, and the soft cloth. What’s with
your plaid coat, the name, the dust on the sapphire
and the afternoon recording. First it’s supper,
a breather, then the fairytale record.

Märchenplatte
Märchenplatte
Erst kommt der Abschied, Auslauf, kommt dasEtikett. Erst kommt der Morgen, Tubensenf
und deine Silhouette. Das Knistern kommt am
Mittagstisch, dazu der Scheuerlappen. Was ist
mit deiner Karojacke, mit Namen, Nadelstaub
und Nachmittagsaufnahme. Erst kommt das
Abendbrot, das Atemholen, dann die Märchenplatte.
