Those who are asleep in earth
Those who are asleep in earthhave an avian sense of the way.
Gone, they sleep with shoes on,
ready to rise and go
to the pink and dispensable,
barefooted insomniacs
who had laced up for them
the last pair of shoes.

Een dode voelt als een vogel
Een dode voelt als een vogel waarhij zijn moet. Met schoenen aan
slapen de heengeganen, klaar
om op te staan en te gaan
naar een kortstondige, blozende,
die ene die, nachten doorwaakt,
blootsvoets hun gespen gesloten heeft,
hun veters vastgemaakt.
