THE DAGGER
Zeus, when I am old and sick,I don’t want to do Christmas pieces.
So have my carotid arteries
severed with a dagger.
Leave me at peace with the ethos,
the logos and the pathos.
I don’t want to convince
anyone of infantile tales.
I’ll grind the dagger so sharp so one can separate
good from bad. For ever. Zeus,
let me die young. You’re
old and don’t exist, so you can help me.

DE DOLK
DE DOLK
Zeus, als ik oud en ziek zal zijn,wil ik geen kerststukjes maken.
Laat mij daarom mijn halsslagaders
doorsnijden met een dolk.
Laat mij met rust met de ethos,
de logos en de pathos.
Ik wil niemand overtuigen
van kinderlijkheden.
Ik slijp de dolk zo scherp dat men goed
van kwaad kan scheiden. Voor altijd.
Zeus, laat me jong doodgaan. U bent
oud en bestaat niet, zodat U mij kan helpen.
