GANGES

On the Ganges a cow
floated down-river,
its backbone torn to pieces,
in its sweet eyes the hope
to obtain the pardon of the gods.

It floated dead
with its calf alive in its entrails.

I saw it from the boat,
mortals,
I saw this miracle floating on the water.

GANGES

GANGES

Por el Ganges bajaba
una vaca,
el espinazo vuelto trizas,
en los dulces ojos la esperanza
de alcanzar la venia de los dioses.

Bajaba muerta
con su ternero vivo en las entrañas.

Lo vi desde la barca
mortales,
vi por el agua bajar ese milagro.
