When Jezebel Dies
When Jezebel Dies
When Jezebel Dies
No one remembers her, nowOnce, men flocked
To her youthful looks
Jutting breasts and firm thighs
Fighting to be wrapped in
Her valleys and mountains
But all too soon, that’s all gone
She is only an uneasy memory
When an unwelcome lump appears
Then images of the way she was
In the last days resurface
Along with nightmares of impeding doom
No one sat with her in the sun
As a chorus of flies
Sang funereal verses
As she slowly faded away
Hers was a solo flight
Her legacy is made up of secret fears
No one knows where her grave is
They prefer not to know
Until the ominous cough appears
Only then does her ghost revisit frightened memories
Temporarily curing self-imposed amnesia
