BY THE SEA
The wind weighs the wordsand finds them too light
the wind weeps, sweeps the words
aside, out of sight
the storm petrel that gulps them up
will rise to the heights of the giant albatross
or merely wish to screech
as I do, dusted monkey chained to its perch.
AAN ZEE
AAN ZEE
De wind weegt de woordenbevindt ze te licht
de wind huilt, veegt de woorden
van tafel, uit het zicht
het stormvogeltje dat ze opslikt
zal stijgen tot de hoogten van de reuzenalbatros
of alleen nog willen krijsen
zoals ik, bestoven aap op stok.
