Poem
Maryam Hooleh
SUSHIANT
Emancipation was the last bate of bitterness
which we had named in our stupendous hopes
In the triangle of existence
thought and hope were mad children
who beat the air with their heads
who dived into time with their fists
and their only big game
was to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to their wrist watches!
© Translation: 2013, Abol Froushan
Sushiant is the name of the Messiah in Zoroastrian creed as well as the name of the poet’s son.
