Poem
Kim Hyesoon
SHE, JONAH
What do I do?I gave birth to a baby inside the belly of a whale
I’m not born yet
but I have loved already
What do I do?
You haven’t finished drawing me
I’m still eyeless
The woman in the painting cries
The woman who is not yet born in the ocean depths
cries and her baby cries along with her
My tears fall even before I open my eyes and look at you
(It’s true that I’m not born yet, right?
That’s why I keep missing you)
Tonight the woman
who has never once reflected sunlight with her body
covers herself with the sketch of a shrub
and shakes her wet hair
The forest without leaves cries along with her
and from somewhere thick snow echoes miss you, miss you
Ah, what do I do?
I’m not born yet
My eyes haven’t been kneaded yet

ZIJ, JONAS
