Gedicht
Franco Buffoni
Lafcadio
The Vatican Church with reference to this– Secret secreted by its murky lips- –
Reproposes a bromide given
For centuries to its soldiers, horses and boarding-school boys
Because the hearts of boys
Burn much too wildly
Before they come to rest among the cadavers.
And liberty loses its way once more
Because of what\'s owed to the master,
The beast passing from sleep to sleep,
Dream to dream weeping to the infant judge.
For a Greece far too clear,
Dead distant Greece.

Lafcadio
Lafcadio
La chiesa vaticana a riguardo– Segreto secreto dalle sue labbra oscure –
-Ripropone bromuro
Dato per secoli a\' soldati suoi, cavalli e collegiali,
Perché il cuore dei ragazzi
Brucia troppo selvaggiamente
Prima di aver riposo tra i cadaveri.
E libertà si smarrisce ancora
Per debiti al padrone,
La bestia da sonno a sonno passando,
Sogno a sogno piangendo al giudice bambino.
Per Grecia fin troppo chiara,
Lontana Grecia morta.
