Poem
Mohamed Boudouik
The Lock of the Dictator
ChasedSince the trecherous stoning
Chased
by the sharp darkness of women
And the wailing of the land . . .
A hyde park mannequin
– stricken in years –
whom the army troops
with all their heavy boots
and contempt of life
did not succeed in giving life.
Victor Jara’s song alone
Fresh like an infant’s lisp
Profound like a prayer
Filled the air.
