Poem
Yumi Fuzuki
Summoned to This Planet
Winter’s midway point has passed,Sunlight pierces the blank margin of the season.
Abandoned limbs
That tried to reject the presentiment
Are shrunken into cores of yarn.
Desperate to catch up with the whiteness of breath,
in a blink, they sprinted off.
What should I do
In order to be born again,
To come back to live
Like budding leaves?
There’s no method for humans.
The wind carries us the smell of earth,
And though the sky is filled with omens,
Always we lag in responding.
Every time we blink,
It burns a hometown summer.
Our teary black eyes wreak destruction.
Welcome home.
Protect the planet, live with the planet.
You’ve become a rainbow,
Making your way to my insides
like a homecoming.
At the speed of light we all
Depart from earth
Become rainbow and return home.
The robust laughter of a rain shower.
Pours down
So as to make its way home.
You raindrops beating at my umbrella, tell me now:
Why have you been summoned to this planet?
