Beyond remedy

Is your condition worse than mine?
We sneak a glance at each other’s face.
If yours looks incurable, I feel much better. Well, almost.
Looking at the beer joint that spews
cigarette smoke and deep-frying smell at the other side of the road,
outpatients click their tongues in disbelief.
There are those who want to buy a disease.
Here are those who want to sell a disease.
Places that shouldn’t be crowded at all are
overcrowded today.
No deal has been reached.

A junior doctor urges his patients to go for overpriced medicines.
“As long as you have a body you will have an agony.
Sorry, I can only treat your ailment.
I can do nothing about your angst.”
“Spot on, doc! Are your patients at the top
of the line of people who have lived most irresponsibly?”
The young doctor is speechless.

Sometimes the size of the cat may outweigh
the benefits of the cat tattoo.

There are those who say, “Prevention is better than cure.”
There are those who go, “Whatever!”

A toothpick is stuck between my teeth.
