PAINFUL DESIRE
PAINFUL DESIRE
PAINFUL DESIRE
My passionate hungerAnd my painful desire
For your wordless beauty
Drive me into a silent cataclysm
Of firing emotion.
What is there, dear lady,
Between you and me
Except my painful admiration of you,
My searching words
That never find your heart
And the ailing possibility
Of our future union?
Birds have heard me,
Bushes and stones too.
Innumerable observers.
But you have never heard me.
