USELESSNESS OF THE CRAFT

How much has been sacrified to write these lines
how many sorrows and melancholies
to assume with dignity the ruin and the abandonment
to survive the tragedy.

And there will always be poetry
but we shall return to the same repeated words
all themes have been said
and one will have to reiterate in every verse
rhythms already modulated, loves and deaths already sung.

How much sacrifice to write some words of trash
how many internal seisms.
So that they be not read, nor derided nor applauded.

INUTILIDAD DEL OFICIO

Cuánto se ha sacrificado para escribir estas líneas
cuántos pesares y melancolías
para asumir con dignidad la ruina y el abandono
y sobrevivir a la tragedia.

Y siempre habrá poesía
pero volveremos a las mismas y repetidas palabras
todos los temas están dichos
y habrá que repetir en cada verso
ritmos ya entonados, amores y muertes ya cantados.

Cuánto sacrificio para escribir algunas palabras de basura
cuántos sismos interiores.
Para que no las lean, se burlen o no aplaudan en un recinto.
