Poem
Toshio Nakae
EVENING
Somehow----
I was about to say
‘Incidentally’
but haven’t said anything
Someone
must have heard it
He picks up on ‘Incidentally’
right away behind me
and goes on talking
paying no attention to me
I am befuddled
like a kid who’s been snubbed
by this unexpected person
with no cause
yet unable to reproach him
I feel as if I no longer exist
in the room at that moment
