Poem
Toshio Nakae
NIGHT AND FANGS
Night plants its fangs into Mother Earthdrives their pointed ends
into the wet earth
thoroughly chilled
I stroke the earth with my hands
a strangely warm wind
the pointed tips of the fangs drill in
deeper
your head also receives them, you, a sleeping person,
The earth floats in the great sky
a beast arrives from a distant and ancient universe
to drive living fangs your
blood circulates
the earth revolves
Faced with the violent will
of this time-honored beast
a scream courses through all of your blood vessels
splashes
out of silence
