BEFORE SLEEP
This is the prettiest cityin the world:
one of the loveliest for sure.
The coffee is good here, the transportation convenient,
order and manners
are good.
The homes, gardens, trees
are pleasant.
I repeat this to myself
and am almost convinced before sleep.

זֹאת הָעִיר הַיָּפָה
בָּעוֹלָם:
וַדַּאי אַחַת הַיָּפוֹת שֶׁבּוֹ.
הַקָּפֶה כָּאן טוֹב, הַתַּחְבּוּרָה נוֹחָה,
הַסְּדָרִים וְהַנִּימוּסִים
טוֹבִים.
הַבָּתִּים, הַגַּנִּים, הָעֵצִים,
נְעִימִים.
אֲנִי חוֹזֵר וּמְשַׁנֵּן אֶת זֶה לְעַצְמִי
וְלִפְנֵי הַשֵּׁנָה כִּמְעַט מִשְׁתַּכֲנֵעַ.
