
Alfred Schaffer
Alfred Schaffer (1973) is a poet, teacher, and translator with a keen eye for the absurdity of everyday life. His poetry balances between humor and seriousness, sobriety and wonder. Since his debut Zijn opkomst in de voorstad (2000), he has built an impressive body of work, earning awards such as the Herman de Coninck Prize and the P.C. Hooft Prize. Schaffer lives in South Africa, where he teaches at the University of Stellenbosch.
