Biography
Isobel Dixon was born in Umtata, South Africa, and grew up in the Karoo. She studied in Stellenbosch and Edinburgh.
Dixon\'s poetry has been widely published in her native South Africa in the journals Carapace, Scrutiny 2, New Coin, New Contrast and Fidelities, and in various anthologies, among them A Literary Guide To The Eastern Cape (Double Storey, 2003), City In Words (David Philip 2001). In South Africa she won the Sanlam Literary Award 2000 for her then unpublished collection of poetry Weather Eye, subsequently published by Carapace Poets (2001).

In the UK, her work has appeared in several journals, among themLeviathan Quarterly, Wasafiri, The Guardian and London Magazine, and in the US in the Paris Review. Her poems have appeared in the UK anthologies New Writing 8 (Vintage, 1999), New Writing 10 (Vintage, 2001) and New Writing 11 (Picador, 2002) and are also in forthcoming Austrian and German anthologies of South African writing in 2004. She works in London as a literary agent.
