Samuel Jaramillo

Biography
Samuel Jaramillo was born in Bogotá in 1950. An economist and city planner, having followed postgraduate and Ph.D. courses in France and England. He is a well-known researcher in urban studies both within Colombia and throughout Latin America, and has published a number of widely accepted books on the subject.
From an early age he stood out as a poet, winning a number of national awards and being included in various anthologies. He has published 6 volumes of poetry and a compilation of his works in this genre. He writes a great deal of literary criticism, focusing especially on the prose and poetry writers of his generation in Colombia and Latin America. Norma publishing house recently published his first novel Diary of Light and Dark – Francisco José de Caldas (Diario de la Luz y las Tinieblas – Francisco José de Caldas), a historical tale about the life of this character of our independence. He currently works as a researcher and professor within the Faculty of Economics of the Los Andes University in Bogotá.
