Poem
Rutger Kopland
at the pool
Happiness was a day at a poolin the grass ringed round
with trees up to the sky
here I was god’s and my
grandpa’s lad – both died,
happiness is dangerous
in the evening the pool has lain down
so mirror-smooth that sky, trees and grass
repeat themselves below the ground
fear and longing both ask me
to come back
aan de vijver
aan de vijver
Geluk was een dag aan een vijverin gras met bomen
tot in de hemel omkringd
ik was er het kind van god en
mijn grootvader - beide stierven
geluk is gevaarlijk
de vijver is gaan liggen in de avond
zo spiegelglad dat hemel, bomen en gras
zich herhalen onder de aarde
angst en heimwee, beide vragen mij
terug
