plaza
No breath of wind. And yet a man held a womanfirmly fast, a woman a child. The small legs moved
all on their own. Up there on a string a balloon
like a fish. Up there the sun, all ablaze.
The child no longer held the fish. Look how it
rose, waved to him. What is it? What is it?
The man let go of the woman, ran into the air,
cleared it out completely.

Nergens wind. Toch hield een man een vrouwstevig beet, een vrouw een kind. De beentjes
bewogen zelf. Daarboven aan touw een ballon
als een vis. Daarboven de zon, laaiend.
Het kind hield de vis niet meer. Keek hoe hij
steeg, zwaaide hem na. Wat is er? Wat is er?
De man liet de vrouw los, holde de lucht in,
haalde die helemaal leeg.
