"First at a call"
First at a call a large lion's
Head pivots,
The sun over the top of a hump
Looks inside you.
Slowly washing the river sand,
It's panning for a nugget, but in the sieve
Useless rock.
Stones rattle in the water.
And after an earlier fire the forest
Stockade has cooled down. Poisonous dust.
But a child who felt fear breathes
Although he appears lifeless.

De roep weerklinkt en meteen
keert de enorme leeuwenkop.
De zon rijst bovenop de bult,
kijkt dwars door merg en been.
Op zoek naar het edele metaal
schift hij klompjes van het zand.
Wat in de schaal ligt is banaal.
Rivierstenen kletteren in het water.
De vlammenzee is uitgewoed,
de stammen afgekoeld. Giftig stof.
Maar het doodsbenauwde kindje leeft,
al lijkt het wel een lijkje.

Большая львиная голова,
Солнце над вершиной горба,
Смотрит внутрь тебя.
Медленно промывая речной песок,
Ищет самородок, но в решете
Пустая порода.
Камни гремят в воде.
И после былого огня остыл
Лесной частокол. Ядовита пыль.
Но дышит ребёнок, узнавший страх,
Хоть кажется неживым.
