when i grow up i want to be a ghosti think when i hear them play hide and seek
or when they take me to church
and i see them basking in the sunshine of the plazas
when i grow up i want to be a ghost
and haunt in libraries
i wouldn’t be hungry or thirsty or tired
or waste time in bed
or start stupid conversations
all ghosts are intelligent
i could whisper the ideas that come to me
transcribe dreams
and read them
while the living are asleep

cuando grande quiero ser fantasmalo pienso al escucharlos jugar a las escondidas
o cuando me llevan a la iglesia
y los veo tomando sol en las plazas
cuando grande quiero ser fantasma
y penar en las bibliotecas
no pasar hambre ni sed ni sueño
no perder el tiempo en cama
ni entablando conversaciones estúpidas
todos los fantasmas son inteligentes
podría soplar las ideas que se me ocurran
escribir sueños
y leerlos
cuando los vivos estén durmiendo
