Poem
Nikos Karouzos
WITH A LITTLE LEAF-MOULD
I would have improved the blue upliftings of the stalksbut my brain is in collapse
lamentable threads
and unrustling fraying ends
– a lot of people outside waiting
and I don’t have even a phrase left,
and if I wanted something: that is to go to my open
grave on foot,
jump inside at the ultimate moment
the shovel-loads rapidly cocooning me till
my image is lost.
