I SEE YOU DANCING, FATHER
IK ZIE JE DANSEN, VADER
Nauwelijks beneden na de nachtrustEn een stap binnen de deur
Of je begon gelijk te dansen
In het midden van de keukenvloer.
En terwijl je danste
Floot je.
Je eigen muziek,
Altijd maat houdend met jezelf.
Nou ja, bijna altijd.
Nu lig je begraven
In Lislaughtin Abbey
En wanneer ik aan je denk
Reis ik terug achter de oude man
Wiens lichaam en geest zijn gebroken
Om de ongebroken man te vinden.
Het is het moment voor de dans begint,
Je lippen amuseren zich en elkaar
Met het fluiten van een air.
Wat er ook gebeurt of niet kan gebeuren
In de tijd die ik noodgedwongen spaar,
Ik zie je dansen, vader.

Mind and body broken
To find the unbroken man.
It is the moment before the dance begins,
Your lips are enjoying themselves
Whistling an air.
Whatever happens or cannot happen
In the time I have to spare
I see you dancing, father.
