TO THOSE WHO HAVE INHERITED A COUNTRY
TO THOSE WHO HAVE INHERITED A COUNTRY
TO THOSE WHO HAVE INHERITED A COUNTRY
If we’d knownwe’d have stayed.
We could have lingered
outside your
electronic gates,
built your
crowded motorways,
instead of theirs.
You would have had no need
of East European nannies
when there were so many
slips of girls,
slipping away.
Leaving home.
Ah, if we’d only known
we’d have stayed.
