It’s always said
before I guess it
“This song was there before you”
and memory unwinds
to an earth that has exhausted
identities of many fingerprints
heartbeats of countless lives
and marrow of now interred bones
but the blood and mind
put together in song
dies to re-live
in memory’s indelible life path
