From the shapes and linesone notes on butterfly wings
and in diverse other species,
decoration and defense go together,
similar to circles and designs
also called painted eyes,
being a sort of mimetic code
of God’s imaginary eye watching.

Tekeningen en lijnen,zichtbaar op de vleugels van vlinders
van allerlei soorten,
ter versiering en verdediging,
cirkelvormige patronen
die de naam van oogvlek dragen
zijn een voorbeeld van mimesis,
het denkbeeldig oog van God die toeziet.
