Poem

Poetry
The day before yesterday there was waryesterday was the same
and it’s still war in my time
time that’s not just mine
money prowls around the world
and finances itself with war
war may not speak its name
it’s called defence
poetry is the brushwood
in which I’ll hide
when the soldiers come
in their screaming tanks

POËZIE
POËZIE
Eergisteren was het oorloggisteren ook
en nog altijd in mijn heden
dat niet alleen van mij is
geld sluipt rond over de wereld
betaalt zichzelf met oorlog
oorlog mag zijn naam niet dragen
noemt zichzelf defensie
poëzie is het struikgewas
waarin ik me verberg
als de soldaten komen
in hun gierende tanks
