Poem
Rosa Jamali
The flintstone
BLOCK 1They bargain over a rough stone terribly indebted to you
It’s not clear –
Is it a stone made of fire
Or a flintstone?
BLOCK 2
I owe a piece of my happiness
To this stone
You’ve turned to the rocks,
indebted to this stone . . .
BLOCK NO 3
I owe this stone
BLOCK NO 4
Demanding
As if by magic
From prison
BLOCK 5
I’m the mother of this stone
I’ve nourished it
I’ve shed tears over it
If the world is on fire
It’s my fault.
BLOCK 6
I’ve betrayed the air
God is disabled by it.
BLOCK 7
Have you taken a vow of silence?
