Music

Music

It’s like antidote
Like food . . .
But does not fill you up, cause constipation
Diarrhea, burn your tongue, throat or make you fat

Many times music fills my system
My veins, bones, flesh and skin.
Somehow it has a special relationship
With my soul, is kind of possessive
Pays frequent visits to my sub-conscious

Music
It’s kind of multi-cultural national
Ethical sexual and capable of making
Intercourse with hundreds of people
At the same time

Like the air we breathe, can’t catch,
Trap or paint it in any colour
It penetrates deep down into bone
Marrow and the inside of your oneness, can stir
You up and walk out of you at will

Music cures depression, diabetes, backaches,
Headaches, heartaches, allergies and can prevent cancers and ulcers.
This is true,
It’s not written in the Bible
But happened to me

Music is a great traveller
Crosses man-made borders without
Travel documents and does not have to go
Through security checks and bored customs officials

Music is a survivor,
Can thrive in the poorest countries of Africa,
Asia and South-America where its deep roots
Can enjoy flights in America’s private
Jets and election picnics

Music can be cunning
Can sneak into ritual places, church
Services and funeral gatherings
Can be brave, dodging bullets and shelling
In places like Palestine where war is for
breakfast, lunch and supper

Music can be friendly the only
Genuine friend that kept me going
When I was a freedom’s child soldier

Music oh! Music I envy you
I wish I was just one good piece of music
