Welcome to Italian poetry - August 2005
January 18, 2006
Like Flavio Santi, the poet of the previous Italian issue, Andrea Inglese belongs to the younger generation of Italian poets. Inglese’s verse intelligently merges personal experience, memory, observed reality, philosophy and lyrical expression. His rich texture of images, sounds and thoughts is totally directed towards an intensification of understanding and a clear critical vision of reality.
Inglese stays clear of any form of diary-like narcissism, experiment as an end in itself, or empty aestheticism, rather aiming at a complex balance between textual spontaneity and thematic density. The present translations are among the first to be presented to an international public.
