Wolfgang Hilbig received the prestigious Büchnerpreis

Wolfgang Hilbig, one of the most distinguished voice in the German speaking area over the past 25 years, yet also an author that has over and over again been underrated, on October the 26th 2002 he received the prestigious "Büchnerpreis". The award includes the prize-money of 40 000 €.
Hilbig became known for his poetry and prose full of dark images and moods, such as the poetryedition Die Abwesenheit (The absence) or the story Alte Abdeckerei (Old Knacker´s yard).
