Tonnus Oosterhoff: VSB-prize for Poetry 2003
January 18, 2006
Tonnus Oosterhoff will receive the VSB-prize for poetry 2003 (€25.000,-), for his latest collection Wij zagen ons in een kleine groep mensen veranderen ('We saw us change into a small group of people').
The collection provides in a form of poetry that was previously unknown. Oosterhoff creates 'moving verses' by using all sorts of devices, like handwriting that is placed across a poem, different kinds of found language and unusual typographical special effects. A CD-ROM is enclosed with the collection, on which some poems literally move. Words or groups of words move across the screen, they appear, disappear and re-appear, sometimes replaced by other words, thus making use of association, assonance, alliteration and other resemblances in a new way. Some of those poems are on Oosterhoff's own website as well. Robert Anker, Arjen Duinker, Astrid Lampe and Alfred Schaffer were also nominated for the VSB-prize.
