After translating the poems it is also possible to participate in a workshop during the Poetry International Festival. Poetry International will organise a workshop for every poet and the professional translator, provided there is enough interest in that poet’s work. During the workshop, the participants, the poet, and the festival translator discuss the issues that came up during the translation of the poems. This discussion with the poet can provide valuable about the meaning or form of specific parts of the poem. Go to {segment name="festival/index" title="festival poets and poems"}

In In Other Words, translation of poetry is the central issue. In Other Words is meant for everyone who wants to learn more about literary translation, about poetry in general, about a particular poet, or about the language and culture from a certain country or part of the world. Translating poetry is also one of the most intense ways to read poetry.
Participating in In Other Words begins with translating the poems of one of the festival poets. You can do this on your own or in a group, at home or in a classroom. Participants are free to choose which festival poet they wish to translate. During the translation process, it is possible for the participants to exchange their experiences on the In Other Words Facebook page. This page will offer participants the possibility to discuss tricky issues with other translators, speak with them about the form and meaning of the poems, and find solutions together.After translating the poems it is also possible to participate in a workshop during the Poetry International Festival.
