For the first time in history, all living Dutch Poet Laureates will share one stage! On Friday, June 13, Poetry International brings together Ramsey Nasr, Ester Naomi Perquin, Anne Vegter, Tsead Bruinja, Lieke Marsman, and the current Dutch Poet Laureate, Babs Gons.

Ramsey Nasr
Ramsey Nasr (born in 1974) is a versatile artist: poet, actor, and director. He was the Poet Laureate of the Netherlands from 2009 to 2013 and was praised for his socially engaged poetry. Nasr started his career in theater and received several literary and theatrical awards. His work combines lyrical language with social critique and musical influences. In addition to poetry, he has written essays and plays and translated operas.
Anne Vegter
Anne Vegter (born in 1958) is a poet, prose writer, and playwright. In 2013, she became the first female Poet Laureate of the Netherlands. Her poetry is known for its playful, sometimes surreal tone, blending lyricism with social themes. In addition to poetry, Vegter writes children's books and theater texts. Her work is praised for its experimental use of language.
Lieke Marsman
Lieke Marsman (born in 1990) is considered one of the most important young poets in the Netherlands. Her poetry and prose combine philosophical and political reflections with a personal tone. Her debut, Wat ik mijzelf graag voorhoud, was well-received. In 2021, she was the Poet Laureate and used her platform to address social issues such as climate change and illness.
Babs Gons
Babs Gons (born in 1971) is a poet, performer, and writer, known as a pioneer in the Dutch spoken word scene. In 2023, she became the Poet Laureate. Her work is deeply socially engaged and gives a voice to themes such as identity, equality, and activism. In addition to her poetry, she is also a sought-after curator and organizer of literary events.
Tsead Bruinja
Tsead Bruinja (born in 1974) is a Frisian and Dutch-language poet. He was the Poet Laureate of the Netherlands from 2019 to 2021 and is known for his accessible and vivid poetry. His work often reflects on family history, politics, and the human experience. Bruinja is also active as a teacher and poetry critic.
Ester Naomi Perquin
Ester Naomi Perquin (born in 1980) was the Poet Laureate of the Netherlands from 2017 to 2019. Her poetry is clear and accessible, but often contains deep and introspective themes. She worked as a prison guard before becoming a full-time poet, which has influenced her work. Her poetry collections have won multiple awards. Perquin also writes essays and columns on literature and society.
