Biografie
Dorit Weisman's "poetic voice", a critic writes, "is thought to be one of the most refreshing and interesting heard today, a claim which is supported by the many prizes she has won. Weisman writes prosy, conversational poetry, nearly free of metaphor and image, sometimes almost documentary, revealing and filled with detail. She carries on a dialogue, it seems, mainly with American poetry."

The poet and translator was born April 1950 in Kfar-Saba and lives in Jerusalem.  She tutors at workshops for creative writing, gives lectures about poetry and was an active member of the Ketovet/Poetry Place group from 2002-2012, a center for workshops and readings in Jerusalem.

Her most recent awards include the ACUM Prize (Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers) for the manuscript of Draga Klari and the European Academy of Science, Arts and Literature Poetry Prize, both in 2018, and in 2016, the International Alfonso Gatto Poetry Prize, Salerno, Italy.

In 2005, Weisman was a recipient of the ACUM Prize for poetry for her manuscript, Where Did you Meet the Cancer?; the Prime Minister‘s Prize for Israeli writers in 2003 and the Yehuda Amichai Prize for Poetry in 2003. Weisman has also won the following prestigious awards: the Tchernikhovski Prize of the Writer’s Guild (1998), the Ben-Gurion University Prize for Literature (1999), the Olschwung Foundation's Award as well as the Jerusalem Prize for Literature (1998).
