Gustavo Gac-Artigas

Gustavo Gac-Artigas is een Chileense schrijver, dichter, romanschrijver, toneelschrijver en scenarioschrijver, woonachtig in de VS sinds 1992. Eerder was hij een politieke vluchteling in Frankrijk, nadat hij uit Chili was verdreven na zijn gevangenschap tijdens de militaire staatsgreep van 1973. Na een mislukte poging om terug te keren naar Chili onder het regime van Pinochet en een jaar doorgebracht in Latijns-Amerika op zoek naar een plek om te wonen en te creëren, werd hij in een tweede ballingschap gestuurd, ditmaal in Rotterdam.

Hij is corresponderend lid van de Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española (ANLE), een lid van PEN Chile, de Academia Universalis Poetarum en de Academia Tomitana van Constanza.

Hij schrijft regelmatig opiniestukken voor Le Monde Diplomatique (Chileense editie), Impacto Latino (NY), El Desconcierto (Chili), TodoLiteratura (Spanje) en Letralia. Zijn poëzie is gepubliceerd in talloze tijdschriften en bloemlezingen in de Verenigde Staten, Frankrijk en Latijns-Amerika en is gedeeltelijk vertaald in het Engels, Frans en Roemeens.

Als dichter heeft hij deelgenomen aan internationale festivals en poëzie lezingen in onder andere Parijs, de Verenigde Staten, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, India en Costa Rica.
