Bernice Chauly

In 1998 begon zij met het organiseren van literaire programma’s en in 2005 richtte zij Readings op, het oudste live podium voor literatuur in Kuala Lumpur. Enkele jaren later, in 2011, raakte zij als festivaldirecteur betrokken bij de Writers Unlimited Tour Kuala Lumpur/Makassar en werd zij uitgenodigd festivaldirecteur te worden voor het George Town literatuurfestival in Penang (2011-2013).

Chauly schreef vijf boeken, going there and coming back (1997), The Book of Sins (2008), Lost in KL (2008), Growing Up With Ghosts (2011) – bekroond met de Readers’ Choice Awards – en Onkalo (2013).
