Maung Chaw Nwe

CHAMPION, BUT A CHAMPION

Champion,
Look here, champion,
Come quickly, champion,
Go quickly, champion,
Champion . . . but a champion!

Champion, these are these,
Those are those,
Don’t take this path,
Don’t eat that stuff,
Champion . . . but a champion!

There's whisky in the pineapple.
There's June rain at the top of 40th Street.
My counsellor friend lives
At the top of Bo Aung Gyaw Street.

Champion, are you gonna leave?
Champion, are you gonna thieve?
Champion, are you gonna weave?
Put this thing right here.
Put that thing right there.
Champion . . . but a champion!

Champion, waves surge,
Temperature rises,
And my chest boils.

Only a tiny voice remains.
Champion . . . but a champion!

Champion, but a Champion

Champion, but a Champion
